NY feds: Dad headed Russian theft team with son (AP)

NEW YORK ? Authorities say they've transferred the leader of a Russian father-son cyber ID theft team to New York to face trial.

A federal indictment was unsealed Tuesday in Manhattan.

Prosecutors say Vladimir Zdorovenin (VLAH'-dee-meer zdah-ROH'-vay-neen) was brought to the United States on Monday. The Moscow man was arrested last March in Zurich, Switzerland. His son remains at large.

The indictment alleges the father and son secretly installed programs on people's computers to steal personal information, including credit card numbers. They're also accused of buying stolen credit card numbers.

Prosecutors say the father and son used the stolen information to transfer money from people's bank accounts, some held at New York-based banks.

The father's attorney says she has no comment.
